FAQ - Caring for Your Permanent Jewelry
Welcome to our FAQ page where we provide essential information on how to care for your custom permanent jewelry. Discover tips on maintenance, repairs, and personalized care guides to keep your precious pieces looking their best.
What sets your permanent jewelry apart from others?
Designed with care. Welded to last. Made just for you.
What is permanent jewelry, and how does the process work?
Permanent jewelry is a custom-fit chain that’s welded directly onto you, creating a seamless, clasp-free piece you never have to take off.
The process involves using a specialized welding machine to close the chain while it’s gently placed on you. The weld is quick, completely painless, and performed with your safety and comfort as the top priority.
I will take great care in preparing your skin, positioning the chain properly, and using a protective leather patch to shield your skin during the brief spark. The result is a beautiful, durable piece that moves with you.
How should I clean my permanent jewelry?
For a gentle clean, use mild soap and a soft cloth to refresh your piece. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can dull the finish over time.
How often should I bring my jewelry for maintenance?
Regular maintenance helps your jewelry stand the test of time. I suggest scheduling a yearly check-in to keep everything linked, polished, and glowing.
Do you offer repair services for damaged jewelry?
Life happens — I’ve got you. From broken links to loose welds, I offer repairs to bring your piece back to life.
Can I customize my existing jewelry pieces?
Absolutely! I offer custom design services to transform your existing pieces into unique and personalized creations.
What materials do you use for permanent jewelry?
Crafted with quality. Our materials — gold filled and silver — are chosen for their lasting beauty and strength.
Understanding Wear & Durability
The term “permanent” as it relates to welded jewelry may not always be guaranteed although this jewelry is intended to be permanent, durable, and long-lasting, the length of wear can vary depending on my physical activity and other factors.
Can I wear my permanent jewelry in water?
Your piece is made to keep up with you — but it's recommended that you avoid long exposure to chlorinated or saltwater to preserve its shine and strength.
How can I prevent tarnishing of my jewelry?
To keep your piece glowing, avoid contact with harsh chemicals or perfumes. A little care — and regular cleaning — goes a long way in preventing tarnish.
Tarnish Policy
• Within 30 Days of purchase: If your chain tarnishes, I will provide a replacement with the same chain or one of equivalent value at no additional cost.
• Beyond 30 Days: Customers are responsible for the full replacement cost, and no refunds will be provided.
Rewelds
If your jewelry breaks at the weld within 30 days of placement, Gilded Thread Jewelry Co. will re-weld free of charge.
Refunds
Each piece is custom-made by a certified welder, and all sales are final once payment is completed. Due to the personalized nature of each piece, exchanges or refunds are not available after the sale is finalized.
Can Permanent Jewelry be removed?
Yes — while it's called “permanent,” your jewelry can be safely removed at any time.
If you ever need or want to remove your piece, simply use a pair of household scissors or nail clippers to snip the small welded jump ring.
We recommend cutting at the welded spot so the chain can be re-welded later if desired.
Need help? I'm happy to remove it for you or re-weld it if you'd like to be linked again.
Do I need to sign a waiver before getting permanent jewelry?
Yes — all customers must sign a waiver before receiving permanent jewelry. It’s a quick form that ensures you understand the process, safety guidelines, and aftercare.
If you're under 18, you’ll need to have a parent or legal guardian present to sign the waiver and give consent at the time of your appointment or event.
Safety First, Always.
Not every moment is a welding moment. For your safety, we may decline to weld due to skin conditions, sensitivity, or medical precautions. I’ll guide you every step of the way.
